Send BICAS to St. Paul

BICAS Youth are Going Places!

The Youth Bike Summit is an annual three-day conference bringing together young people and adults from across the nation to share, plan, & dream about youth culture, bicycles, education, and advocacy.  With workshops that aim to unite theory and practice, the Youth Bike Summit is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect with other programs that engage youth with cycling.

In 2015 our community supporters helped BICAS send 2 great young folks to YBS in Seattle. We had a blast and came home re-invigorated to build up our youth programs and bolster our youth leaders!

Ryan wrenchingThis year, we are hoping to increase our youth delegation to *four* inspiring teen leaders for the conference in St. Paul, Minnesota! Three of these young folks have been coming down to BICAS since middle school to fix up their bikes and help out around the shop. Now that they're in high school they're sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with their younger southside neighbors as Volunteer Ride Leaders with the Ochoa Bike Club.

As Youth Ride Leaders, they have had the chance to mentor 8-11 year olds in bicycle safety and mechanics, practice various leadership responsibilities, and participate in leadership envisioning curriculum through BICAS.

Our fourth teen delegate is actually a BICAS staff member, hired directly out of high school after successfully completing an internship in our art program! He has shown tremendous growth as a mechanic and overall BICAS Collective member. We are excited to give him the opportunity to share his experiences with other young people and bring new ideas home to Tucson.

Will you donate now to give these amazing young folks the opportunity to hone their leadership skills and connect with other bikers and teachers from all over the country?

By supporting these extraordinary young leaders, you're investing in a healthy future full of possibilities for our youth and our community.
