Where are you from?

Tucson, AZ

What got you started making art?

I started making art from a very young age. My mom has always been very artistic so we would often make things together. I started seriously exploring art more when I was in undergraduate school with calligraphy. I got more into illustration and design after graduate school.

What’s your artistic background? (experience, education, etc.)

All of my artistic experience is self-taught. My calligraphy and illustrations have been inspired by others, but I have worked hard to develop my own style and characteristics.

Who or what are your biggest artists’ influences?

My mom for sure is a huge influence. She always supports my artistic pursuits and I wouldn’t be doing what I am now without her.

Where do you get your inspiration for your art?

Other artists that I see online as well as normal things around me. What I like about illustrations is that you don’t need to try and replicate something exactly, you can take more creative freedom in how you depict it and the characteristics you emphasize or add.

Anything else?

I’m very lucky to be able to pursue my art as a full-time career and business right now and a lot of that is thanks to the support and care of others so I would like to thank everyone who has encouraged me on this journey.

What brought you to BICAS?

My love of bicycles and what BICAS does for the community.

How has BICAS affected you?

I’ve learned a lot from BICAS about how we can help and support one another. It has been a very impactful experience that I will hold dear to me and continue to grow and learn from.

Why did you work with BICAS at Art Mart?

I participated in the BICAS after dark market because I knew that BICAS was extremely supportive of artists, especially those who are queer and trying to grow their art, and so I wanted to be around like minded people who created a welcoming and inclusive community. I actually met one of my now best friends at that market so I’m so glad that I was able to participate.

Other upcoming events to find you?

I will be at Tucson comiccon in August this year so please stop by and support me as well as the other very talented artists in the artist alley.
