Bicycle Repair Classes


Basic Maintenance – An introduction to your bicycle. Beginner level. Ages 14+ Learn the bicycle basics! Never fixed a flat before? Unsure of when to clean your chain? Brakes are a mystery to you? Enjoy our small class size and instructors with years of experience. Bring your bicycle to this 3 hour class and leave with it tuned up.

Modern Mountain Bike and Technology – An overview of the mountain bike. Beginner level. Ages 14+ Bring your personal MT or gravel bike to learn how your bicycle works and what actions you can take in order to prolong the life of your bicycle. we focus on modern mountain bike, off-road, and all-road technologies including tubeless tires, disc brakes, and 1x drivetrains. Learn about compatibility and what off-road up grades might work for you.

Brake Clinic – Skill practice on rim and disc brakes. A beginner-intermediate class. Ages 14+ Wanting to learn how to safely work on your brakes?  Deciding which braking system is best for you? Join us for this 3 hour workshop to practice on our materials or bring your own bike for optional assisted work time following demonstrations.

Gear Clinic – Skills practice on gears and drivetrains. A beginner-intermediate class. Ages 14+ Is your bike not shifting smoothly?  Wanting to figure out what gears are all about and how to use them? Join us for this 3 hour workshop to practice on our materials or bring your own bike for optional assisted work time following demonstrations.

Build-a-Bike – Mechanical immersion for new bicycle mechanics. A beginner-intermediate class. Ages 14+ Over 5 days, learn how to completely disassemble and rebuild a bicycle. This class teaches you the foundations of bicycle repair and basic mechanical techniques. Learn to rebuild bearing systems, replace cables and housing for brakes and shifters, install chains and properly adjust derailleurs.

Wheel Building – Specialized course on wheel construction. An intermediate-advanced class. Ages 14+ This class explores the construction and design of the bicycle wheel. Our experienced instructors will guide you through measuring hubs, rims and spokes and constructing a true bicycle wheel. Recommended prerequisite: BICAS Build-a-Bike Class.

Youth Earn-a-Bike – A multi-day mechanics course for youth. Beginner level. Ages 8-18. During this multi-session class youth develop mechanical practice, problem-solving skills,  self confidence, leadership skills,  environmental awareness, and community appreciation. All while earning a bike!
