Youth Earn-A-Bike is a week long bicycle repair course in which youth ages 8 to 18 learn bicycle mechanics, practice tangible skills, build self confidence, and earn a bike! Over the course of the program participants will overhaul a bicycle earning credit for their attendance and participation. At the end of the course students will demonstrate safe riding skills and take home their newly refurbished bike with a helmet and lock.

Youth Earn-A-Bike

Experience level:  Beginner
Age Range: 8 to 12 years old

The BICAS Earn-a-Bike class teaches the fundamentals of mechanics and bicycle repair to students interested in expanding their knowledge of the bicycle and how it works. Designed for youth to learn with their peers, each participant earns a bicycle to take home with their participation in the class.

Course description:
In pairs, students will work together to learn bicycle repair and repair each others bicycles. During this 5 session class youth develop problem solving skills,  self confidence, group and leadership skills,  environmental awareness, and community appreciation.  And they earn a bicycle to take home!

Fix a Flat, tubes and tires
Hubs and Wheels
Headsets 
Bottom Brackets
Brakes
Gears
Bike riding safety

Upon completion of this fun course, each student takes home their own bicycle, a helmet and a lock.
