BICAS is a non-profit community center with the mission, through advocacy and recycling of the bicycle, to promote education, art, and a healthy environment, while providing services and opportunity to those in need. BICAS is a collectively run organization.
Job Description:
- Community Bicycle Mechanic/Educator, Collective Member
- Greet and assist customers with questions and repairs
- Facilitate classes
- Build floor bikes (refurbish used bikes)
- Coordinate volunteers
- Ability to help diverse community members of all ages and backgrounds
- Patience and ability to explain rudimentary bicycle mechanics to customers
- Shop experience a strong plus
- Knowledge of tools, mechanical inclination
- Teaching experience a plus
- Experience with collectives, worker cooperatives, or consensus-based decision making a plus
- Grant writing/organizational experience a plus
- Bilingual a plus
- Part-time, $8.50/hr pay
