BICAS is a non-profit community center with the mission, through advocacy and recycling of the bicycle, to promote education, art, and a healthy environment, while providing services and opportunity to those in need. BICAS is a collectively run organization.

Job Description:

  • Community Bicycle Mechanic/Educator, Collective Member
    • Greet and assist customers with questions and repairs
    • Facilitate classes
    • Build floor bikes (refurbish used bikes)
    • Coordinate volunteers
    • Ability to help diverse community members of all ages and backgrounds
    • Patience and ability to explain rudimentary bicycle mechanics to customers
    • Shop experience a strong plus
    • Knowledge of tools, mechanical inclination
    • Teaching experience a plus
    • Experience with collectives, worker cooperatives, or consensus-based decision making a plus
    • Grant writing/organizational experience a plus
    • Bilingual a plus
  • Part-time, $8.50/hr pay
