Donate money using a credit card
We are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt public charity. Donations of money are tax deductible.
Other ways to contribute money:
- In person: During open shop hours, you can donate by cash, check, or credit card.
- By mail: Please send checks, made out to BICAS, to our mailing address. Do not send cash in the mail.
- Payroll or UnitedWay: Your employer might support payroll donation, where an amount you specify will be taken out of your paycheck by your employer and sent directly to us. If you give to UnitedWay or other charitable giving organizations, you can generally specify that your donation should go to BICAS.
Donate old bicycles, parts, accessories, carriers, racks, clothing
Please donate old bicycles and bicycle-related items (including clothing), no matter the condition. We will create something awesome! Usable frames and parts get sorted and re-used to build functional “recycled” bicycles, possibly by a student in one of our build-a-bike classes. Items beyond intended use will be turned into bicycle art. Items of significant value (e.g., an essentially new bicycle, or an unusual or expensive frame or part) will be put up for sale, and the revenue used to support our operation.
Please bring donations to us (see map & directions) during open shop hours. Unfortunately we are unable to make pick-ups.
We are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt public charity. Your donations of property (old bicycles, etc.) are tax deductible. When you drop off your donation to BICAS, our employees can furnish you with a tax receipt.
Note that donations are just that: donations. You cannot use donations as payment or exchange for other bicycles or parts. However, our Work Trade Program lets you put volunteer hours towards bicycle parts and tool access.
Donate your time and skill
Our operation cannot stay afloat without the many volunteers providing countless hours of assistance. From sorting parts bins and organizing one area of the shop, to maintaining our courtyard and garden, to helping with building repairs and office bookkeeping, we rely on the devotion and unique skills of our volunteers. During open shop hours, ask any BICAS employee how you can get involved!
Donations of time and skill are not tax deductible. However, through our Work Trade Program, you can put volunteer hours towards bicycle parts and tool access.
