CONAHEC Border Pact Grant
The goal of Innovations of Higher Education on the Border: Recycling Bicycles
for New Opportunities was to investigate the role that institutions of higher
education play in a changing border economy through a specific pilot program
designed to support innovative alternatives for micro-enterprise through a
bicycle recycling project. Students and faculty of BARA at the University of Arizona (UA) and
the Instituto Tecnológico de Nogales (ITN) in Nogales, Sonora, and staff
at Bicycle Inter-Community Action and Salvage (BICAS) coordinated the project.
